Our Team

Founder and CIO

William Peets, CFA

Prior to founding 100AV, Will spent six years as Chief Risk Officer at Passport Capital and Chief Investment Officer at Passport Digital Holdings. At Passport, Will informed the portfolio construction process and provided guidance on position sizing, hedging, and risk management for the fund's $4.5B in assets. Previously, Will was a Vice President at MSCI where he consulted with hedge funds on portfolio construction and their use of Barra and Risk Metrics.

He is a CFA charter holder and received his BS in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, where he currently sits on the Dean's Advisory Council for the college of business.

Portfolio Manager

Ronald Papanek

Ron has been a cryptocurrency and blockchain investor and advocate since 2013. He joined Symbiont as Managing Director in 2015 leading their permissioned blockchain initiatives for financial services. Prior to Symbiont, Ron led the Americas Alternative Investments Analytics Business at MSCI, following ten years at J.P. Morgan as Vice President responsible for market-making and proprietary trading in equity derivatives, MBS and treasuries. Ron’s career in finance began at the CBOT, where he traded futures and options on treasury bonds and grains.

Ron received his MSIA in finance from Carnegie Mellon and his BA in economics from The University of Chicago.

Chief Risk Officer

Jon Nakahara

Jon Nakahara is a founding partner at 100AV. He is responsible for building out much of the infrastructure for portfolio modeling, backtesting, and strategy development. Prior to 100AV, Jon was a Senior Risk Analyst at Passport Capital responsible for internal risk reporting and systems development. Prior to Passport, Jon was a Vice President and Technical Product Manager at Risk Metrics (MSCI) and a Portfolio Modeling Specialist.

Jon received his BS in Mathematics from Penn State University and a Masters in Mathematics from Lehigh University.

Chief Operating Officer

Patrick Collins

Patrick Collins is a founding partner at 100AV. Previously, Patrick was co-founder and Head of Compliance and Operations at Digital Currency Trading Inc. and managed compliance at Passport Capital for five years. Prior to Passport, Patrick was a business consultant at SS&C Eze, supporting hedge funds and institutional asset managers in implementing trading, compliance, and portfolio analytics systems.

Patrick received his BS in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Venture Partner

Alex Annese

Alex is a founding partner at 100AV and currently serves as CEO of Overflow Labs, a secure game economy platform he founded in 2020. Prior to 100AV and Overflow, Alex led crypto-equity and digital asset investments at Craft Ventures and was a founding technical advisor to Harbor. His background is in software engineering and computer security, both at the director and IC levels, bringing deep experience in navigating large companies such as Microsoft, and successfully building tech companies from the ground up as an early employee at Yammer, Rapid7, and Zenefits.
